For young men between 19 and 25 years old, serving a mission is a great priviledge and a commandment given by God. Tens of thousands of Mormon youth serve in missions all over the world. I wouldn't trade my own missionary experience in Brazil for anything. However, those who choose not to serve missions are still perfectly welcome in our church. They can do all the things in church that any other member can do.
There are a lot of Church activities for those who want to participate. However, the only really essential meeting is our worship services on Sunday mornings. All other meetings are entirely optional. For the most part, Mormons live their lives much as other people do, going to school and work, spending time with friends and family, etc.
Mormons do often talk about God with each other, just like members of any other church do. However, I've met some religious people who constantly make reference to God, even during casual conversations that have nothing to do with Him. That's not really the Mormon way.
I hope this answer helps. If you'd like to learn more about the LDS Church, I suggest that you chat with the Mormon missionaries. As you likely know, most people who are interested in Mormonism learn about our basic beliefs from these missionaries. You can request a missionary visit online.
You can also learn the address of the Mormon chapel nearest your house online. Please don't hesitate to visit us any Sunday morning (9:00) to see how we worship! Mormons love visitors.
