I'm not Mormon but my Family is

by Anonymous

I'm not Mormon, but my family is. From what I hear from by brothers about the Church, I feel that it is true. I know we all have our free choice and that I'll be closer to my family when I do God's will, but sometimes I do bad things. It's not that I'm a bad person, though. I just like parties and diversions. I know the LDS are good people who are working in God's name.

Hi friend. I'm happy to hear that your family members are members of the church and that you already have a testimony of the church's truthfulness. A testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is a great blessing.

It sounds like you would like to be a member of the church, but you feel that your life of parties and diversions is not compatible with church membership. Let me make two comments.

First, the blessings of stability, identity, spirituality, and peace that come from being an active, dedicated, and consecrated member of the church far, far outweigh any temporary happiness that might come from parties and diversions. Giving up church membership for something so trivial is like giving up a million dollars because you'd prefer to keep the meager ten-dollar bill in your pocket.

Second, while it's true that some aspects of the party life (drugs, immodest dress/dances/music, etc.) are not compatible with the gospel of Jesus Christ, Mormons hardly spend their whole lives in serious silence. We party too!;) In fact, the church often has social activities where members can get together in a wholesome environment to enjoy each other's company. Perhaps you should go to a Mormon party with your family members to see what they're like. You're certainly welcome to come visit us!;)

Friend, I invite you to focus on your spiritual development. You are a valued child of God. He wants to see you achieve your fullest potential. He loves you. I encourage you to speak with the Mormon missionaries in your area. I also recently wrote an article entitled "How can I Join the Mormon Church?" that might help you. May God bless you on your spiritual journey.
