Hi, great site. You recently answered someone's question about the word of wisdom, but mistakenly said we do not drink "black tea" all tea is dirived from the same tea plant. We do not drink any teas except for those referred to as herbal tea, tea dirived from the root or herb of anything aside from the tea plant and berry. Green tea, black tea... All not allowed.

Just to clairfy, mormons can drink and/or eat some substances containing caffiene. Hot cocoa, chocolate, coca cola and other caffienated soft drinks are okay to consume. It is still encouraged to use wise judgement to ensure one does not become addicted to these subsatnces. Mormons cannot drink tea (unless herbal), coffee, or alchohol and cannot smoke or do illegal drugs etc.

The caffeine found in chocolate is molecularly different from the caffeine found in coffee, though both are methylxanthines. The first is actually a form of caffeine called theobromine, which has a much smaller effect on the human body than the caffeine found in coffee or tea. As for caffeinated soft drinks, president Hinckley stated in a television interview that he did not consume caffeinated soft drinks. The church has officially left it to our own discretion.
Webmaster: Wow, Pamela! I confess that at first I doubted your caffeine/theobromine comment, but it
seems you're right! Apparently there is
no caffeine in chocolate. Very interesting stuff!

To clarify LDS (mormons) can drink tea and coffee to their heart's desire, but that would be a direct violation of the Word of Wisdom and would be seen as an open disobedience toward counsel given to the world on how to best take care of the bodies that Heavenly Father and Jesus loaned to us for this mortal probation.
These bodies are not ours, (see the writings of Paul the apostle in the Bible). Our bodies were puchased by Christ with his blood on the cross and we are not our own. Yes we are given moral agency and we are free to do whatever we want to do to these bodies we currently are tabernacled in, but violations to these bodies, especially if you know better, will be answered for come the day of judgement. Do what you feel is correct in this life, use your agency to bring about much good. (see D&C 58: 26-32)

Endure to the end (both versions)...
Endure to the End.
I've always been taught to endure to the end
But the end ways always to far away
So I'd give up hope cause I couldn't cope
And back to my old ways I'd sway
I cannot do this forever
It is just too big of a task
Forgetting forever's not called for
One day is all that is asked
When dark clouds of trouble hang o'er me
It seems that I can't make it through
I call to my God in the heavens
To give me the strength I am due
This too shall pass is my motto
But not always as quick as I ask
The passing of this comes no quicker
By turning my back on the task
So when it comes to enduring
The end is not too far away
If I don't try to make it forever
If I endure to the end of the day

By filling my belly with drink

If I endure to the end of the day

Reason we are not supposed to drink coffee is not only the high concentrated amount of caffeine but there is a tarring agent in it. The same tarring agent one would use to tan the hides of animal fur skins. The fact is that if our Heavenly Father asked us not to drink Orange Juice even if it is recommended by Dr's and is healthy for us we should have the Faith to obey. The only difference is one gives us reasons and the other doesn't. For instance Dr's say that a glass of wine or one beer a day is actually healthy for you. I can think of a lot of things we go through in life that we could easily justify doing that are wrong but the simple fact is we're asked not to do them by our Father In Heaven and by our Savior. So why risk it.
