I read on some anti-mormon sites that mormons claim that Jesus/Jehovah is the product of sex between Mary and God the Father/Elohim. I have never read that in any canonized or official church document. Is there any truth to these statements? Or are they nothing but malicious slander? With love in Christ.

Hi Curious Protestant. I have also read these same anti-Mormon allegations on the Internet. You are wise to question these kinds of sources. In fact, Mormons do not believe that God the Father had sex with Mary. In 2007 the Church released the following official statement:

“The Church does not claim to know how Jesus was conceived but believes the Bible and Book of Mormon references to Jesus being born of the Virgin Mary” (emphasis added).
