Mom in the Gospel

by Anonymous

I am a first generation mormon. My ex-husband joined the LDS with me but then returned to his Lutheran roots. We have 4 children. Only one has remained active in the LDS church. One is an agnostic, one an atheist and one believes in the LDS faith but is inactive. I love them all. How can I not? Their decisions are their own and despite the fact that they may not believe as I trained them up to believe, they are still my children and deserve my respect.

Webmaster: Well said, "Mom." In the end as parents we can only do our best. Our children still have their free agency, and our love for them should be unconditional, even if we don't always agree with their life choices. Best of luck to you.

I am glad you are able to stay strong in the church and firm in your faith. Don't give up hope. I am a convert and my husband was inactive for over 10 years before coming back. He is amazingly active and just received he office of an Elder. We will be attending the temple soon together, a day I thought would never happen. We are happier than ever. His family never stopped loving and believing in him so it made it easier to come back. Good luck, it will happen.
