Mormon Introduction

The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a. the "Mormons") are often confused with those of Evangelical Christians, Jehovah's Witnesses, and even the Amish. While we respect all these religions, our beliefs are in many ways distinct from theirs. Aside from confusing us with those of other faiths, many subscribe to the misconceptions and myths about Mormon doctrine that abound on the Internet and in popular culture.

The purpose of this site is to dispel some of the many misconceptions about the Church and its members. The site should be useful both for those considering converting to Mormonism and for those who are merely curious about our basic beliefs.

Who am I?

This site is not affiliated with the Mormon Church, and I am no official Church spokesman. The ideas expressed in this site do not necessarily represent official Church doctrine. For official doctrine, visit mormon.org. That having been said, because one of the purposes of this site is to dispel misconceptions about the Mormon faith, I will try my very best to represent the Church's official position accurately.

I'm a busy medical student

I invite collaborators! Because my time is limited, I don't have the resources to research all the interesting Mormon facts that are out there. If you know of an interesting fact, send me an email by clicking on the link to the right! Don't forget to include the source.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to respond to all correspondence. I will try my best to respond to all sincere questions regarding Mormon beliefs and misconceptions.

Your website is great. You have done some wonderful research. I am a member of the LDS Church and your information is so useful. Especially the misconceptions. I could have used your answers many times, but now I can send my friends of other faiths to your website.

    Hey, your website is excellent!

I haven't been through the whole site yet, but just by looking at the first page it looks pretty good!

    Thanks

This is an excellent website. As the only member on my side of the family (my husband and his family are members), I always get asked the questions that you address here. I couldn't have said any of it better myself. Thanks! I am kind of a news/info junkie, so I will definitely send links if I find anything new.

  7. Presto!

I think that it is cool that you made a website about Mormons/LDS! Good job at making it to!

Way to go. Love the site. Way to take matters into your own hands and follow Elder Ballard's recent mandate to "join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple and clear terms the message of the Restoration."

I'm so glad that you've decided to set this site up. A lot of people are confused with the religion and with this site it definitely helps with the confusion, and gets people in the right direction of our true beliefs.

Recently a friend at our church brought a "film" to my attention. Her son apparently was sent a web link from someone. It's a movie clip that has been recently released, or is about to be. I'm not sure. Anyway, it depicts mormons as flesh eating ghouls, and it is just awful. On behalf of myself and my husband, and our mormon friends, I would like to make sure that young people are not subjected to this terrible conception of our faith. Please let me know if you are able to help.

What a nice site! Hope you're doing well in school (I'm a nurse). I'm not of your faith but I have tremendous respect for LDS. Jesus said, "In my Father's house, there are many mansions". So even though I am not of your faith, we are neighbors in His love. May the good Lord keep you and your beautiful wife blessed.

Webmaster: What kind words! Perhaps one day we'll work together. :)

Just wanted to let you know I think the Q&A section is such a great feature. Some people have asked questions there that I never would have thought of. I leave on my mission in less than a month, and it makes for great practice! Thanks, and God bless.

Webmaster: Happy you enjoy that section. It's one of my favorites too. Good luck on your mission, friend.

I am a mormon and I think it is great. Some of my friends think I am weird because I dont believe that there is more than 1 God or others think I am weird because they believe that there is no God.

Great site. People can really see what mormons are.

Thank you for creating this site. I have recently got back in touch with an old family friend through facebook. Her religion is displayed as LDS which I knew very little about. I have used your site to educate myself and found it to be very informative. It is very nice to have found a source of knowledge such as this. Although I am by no means active in religion I value its importance in society. I also respect the views and values of all peoples religions. I am looking forward to meeting up with my old friend immensely, the fact that I now know and understand her faith that little bit more has made me a very happy man. Your site has added to the smile on my day so thank you.

I am a 30 yr old female raised catholic and this sat 12/26/09 I will be baptized mormon and comfirmed on Sunday in church. I was so anti-mormon for years even though my fathers (passed away) family is all mormon. My mom, sister and I recently moved from Jersey to Utah and after a yr I opened my heart and gained my testimony. My family is supportive and just wants me to be happy.

    Webmaster: Congratulations Jamie!

Perhaps he means he's only met married mormons? That would be the majority of us adults, I believe.
