My husband wants to divorce me so he can serve a mission. Does the Mormon church approve of divorce?

Hi Doris. I'm sorry to hear you're having these marriage struggles. The church would never want one of its members to get divorced in order to serve a mission. One of the primary goals of the church is to strengthen families. Your husband should talk with his Bishop, who will help him better understand his family responsibilities.

Perhaps there are other troubles in your marriage too. If so, I encourage you to chat with a fair-minded marriage counselor.

I hope this answer helps! I'll pray for you and your husband. All the best.
