I have a Mormon boyfriend, and I’d like to marry him. I’m interested in joining your church. In discussing marriage, we’ve talked about being married civilly, in his church, and also in the Catholic church. Is that possible?

Members of the Church believe that marriages performed in temples are sealed, or blessed to last for eternity.
Hi friend. I'm happy you've made the decision to join the LDS Church! I love being a member of this church. It can do a lot to strengthen families, too, so your timing is excellent.

I'm not sure I understand your question about marriage. It's important to be married civility in order to comply with the law of the land.

It's also important to be married in the Mormon temple, but that requires a lot of preparation. It's best to get ready ahead of time so you can be married civilly and in the temple at the same time, but if you're not ready yet, you can get married in the temple one year after being married civilly. Temple marriages are important because they can endure beyond death. With a temple marriage, it's not "until death do you part."

Mormons don't typically get married in Catholic churches. Our church is separate from the Catholic church.

I hope this answer helps! All the best.
