I’d like to know if I can be a missionary, even though I’m a convert? I mean to say that I haven’t been a member since my childhood. I was just recently baptized. I’m 16 years old, but will soon be 17, and my question is, can I be a missionary too? (Question originally asked in Spanish.)

Daniel,

Hi Daniel. Converts certainly can be missionaries. When I was a missionary in Brazil, I had many convert companions. Often converts are the very best missionaries. They know what it's like to live without the gospel, and they know how wonderful it is when the light of the gospel comes into a person's life. This perspective often helps them connect with investigators in a very special and empathetic way!

It's excellent that you want to be a missionary, Daniel. My mission changed my life forever. Being a missionary is very hard, but it is so spiritually rewarding. I wouldn't trade my two years as a missionary for anything.
