If the Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book on earth, as Joseph Smith said, why does it contain over 4000 changes from the original 1830 edition?

Hi friend. The Book of Mormon is not the most grammatically correct book. In fact, Joseph Smith was a relatively uneducated farm boy. As originally dictated by him, there were many grammar and other minor errors. These were understandably corrected in subsequent editions. You can learn more from the FairLDS site.

It's good to point out, too, that the Bible is a very sacred book of scripture as well. It contains the divine words given to ancient prophets in the Middle East. While some errors of translation and transmission have entered into the text, it continues to be a reliable and important way for discovering God's will. In our church, these two books walk hand in hand. Our belief in the Book of Mormon doesn't diminish our love and respect for the Bible.

I hope this answer helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions. I'm happy to help.

The changes often mentioned regard spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors Included by the nearly illiterate Joseph Smith. The "correctness" refers to the principles of Christ's teachings, when read by a person sincerely reading the Book of Mormon under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost.

The changes are totally irrelevant, from that perspective.
