I think my husband has forgiven me. We were married in the temple seven years ago and have a beautiful son. A while back we separated, and I had a relationship with another man for a few months. I’ve now returned to my husband and to the church. I’m in a very painful place in my life and would like to know how to go back to where I was before spiritually.

A life of sin can be cleansed and changed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

I testify that through the atonement of Christ you can be freed from the guilt of this sin. I believe there is no sin that can place you beyond the reach of Christ's grace. Talk with your bishop right away and confess your sins. He'll help you apply Christ's redeeming power in your life.
I'll leave you with this beautiful scripture from Isaiah: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). I know that the miracle of forgiveness can operate in your life too. May God bless you during your spiritual recovery.
