Hi brother. The church doesn't teach that its members should avoid soda. Some members avoid caffeinated sodas because they see them as being similar to coffee, which Mormons do avoid. But the church doesn't teach that avoiding caffeinated soda is a commandment from God.
Some avoid soda because it's not very healthy, especially sodas that are high in calories. But that's also a personal preference, not a commandment.
